“That sounds like a good idea…….”-“Is there something bothering you with the idea?”-“No, the idea is GOOD…..🙂”
Can someone explain this to me?
Old people use quotation marks to indicate emphasis, as a substitute for italics (which many of them could not produce on the old typewriters they learned to write on), whereas young people use them to indicate sarcasm or falseness. They’re used as “scare quotes”.
And old people use ellipses simply to indicate a pause, or for some other incomprehensible reason I’m not aware of. But young people use ellipses to indicate passive-aggression.
So an old person could type something like:
how are things going with your “boyfriend”….
and what they mean is
How are things going with your boyfriend? [Im so excited for you, sweetie, and I wanna hear about it]
But a young person would interpret that sentence as
How are things going with your so-called boyfriend…. [I say, while seething with contempt for him and possibly for you too]
The linguistic difference across generations is beautifully explained here thank you
I have this problem with my father. Do you know how nerve wracking it is when he sends a message that says “ you should look at this………” and its a picture of our fucking cat?
Weekly reminder that when someone calls you weird (pejorative), it is perfectly acceptable to say YES YOU BORING MOTHERFUCKER I AM with the entirety of your chest and laugh maniacally as you execute your flawlessly flamboyant exit.
Your weirdness is beautiful and those who lack sufficient courage or depth to display their own preternatural plumage are right to be unsettled in the presence of your eldritch greatness.
Be weird out loud. Do it at the top of your lungs, with all your heart, as hard as you can.
I don’t think many people realize how much they’ve been turned into a bunch of casually cynical jerks.
Someone may come to their parents and say “I want to write a book” and their parents will say “it’s really hard to get published”.
Someone might confide in their sibling and say “I want to sell my art on "x” platform" and that sibling will say “do you know how many people you’d be competing with? Do you know how many shops are even on that platform?”
I know a kid who once told his best friend “I think I wanna start a dnd podcast” and the friend was like “do you know what the word "oversaturation” means?“
Personally, I don’t know why any of that matters? And even if it did, perhaps your response should be "Do it! Do it and see where it goes!”
Now, this isn’t something I usually post about from my silly goofy k1nk account (reminder to minors to not follow or scroll this acount).
But I have more followers on here than main, and this is extremely important. Like, scary shit.
This applies to everyone. If you’re reading this? It’s going to effect you.
I’m sure perhaps some of you have seen around about a this thing going around… KOSA, is one of the ways it’s being referred to.
If this shit passes, lemme tell you…
LGBTQ+ adults and minors seeking help and community,
people looking for abortions,
people organizing protests,
anyone using their free speech to voice concerns about injustices,
even FAN ARTISTS…
Even people reading fan fiction…
And for the purposes of where I’m posting from… people sharing and enjoying their k1nks, wanting to post things with safety and privacy… smut artists and writers, people even LOOKING for smut…
It’s all gone.No privacy.
They’ll have your face, your name, your age, where you live.
You’ll need an ID to use any US-based platform, even if you’re NOT in the United States.
Instead of dooming, here’s what you can do to stop this shit in it’s tracks 👍
Here is a websitewhere you can sign a letter just by filling out a form, (it takes less than 30 seconds)and where you can call reps.
I HIGHLY suggest leaving calls if you’re able, and if you have phone shyness, do this after 6pm, since it will leave messages instead.
Thanks for all of the recent feedback around Community Labels being incorrectly applied to content. In particular, we appreciate the input we’ve received from the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the frustrations from folks who felt that their content was unfairly labeled. When we realized this was happening, we immediately investigated and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
The LGBTQIA+ community makes up about a quarter of the Tumblr community. It is important for us to support all Tumblr users, especially those whose safe spaces are under threat in certain parts of the world.
As you know, alongside of the rollout of Community Labels we also expanded the types of content allowed on Tumblr as a way to welcome more creativity, art, and self-expression. Our goals remain the same today. Human error happens and we apologize to anyone who has been impacted by these mistakes.
We are working to better understand what happened and will follow up with more information soon.

theres this horrid assumption in the fashion industry that the only people on the planet that want to wear cool boots and shoes are women and that the only women that want to wear these cool as fuck boots and shoes have really small feet. they dont make cool shoes for those like me who were born with larger feet and its so annoying and makes shoe shopping a gigantic pain. i can theoretically find cool shoes but it requires an enormous amount of effort especially when the styles i want to wear just dont exist in “mens” sizes. anyway we need to make bigger shoes end of rant
As a man, women get literally the best combat boots in size tiny.
Will say though that a really good place to get cool looking boots is Milwaukee Leather. They have bad ass designs in both women and mens sizes and theyre really comfy
